How We Built OpesFlux, Our POS and Stock System

Devs & Visuals·28/02/2025·9 min read

Every product starts with a problem. Ours started with payroll.

We were helping a client migrate from paper-based payroll to a digital system. Every ERP we looked at either cost a fortune per month, required a consultant to configure, or was not built around real compliance needs at all. PAYE, National Insurance and auto-enrolment pensions were not optional extras. They were non-negotiables.

So we built it ourselves.

The architecture

OpesFlux is a multi-tenant FastAPI backend with a React frontend. Each business gets isolated data and role-based access down to the feature level. Multi-company support means a holding company can manage multiple subsidiaries from one login.

The modules

We started with POS and stock. Then accounting. Then payroll. Then HR. Each module is loosely coupled — you can run OpesFlux as a standalone POS or as a full ERP, depending on your tier.

The reporting layer was the hardest part. Business owners do not want raw data. They want answers: Am I making money this month? Which product line is dragging the margin down? We built the reports to answer those questions in one click.

What is next

Since then OpesFlux has added open banking bank feeds, a customer portal, purchase approvals and an employee app for clocking in. Each company sets its own currency, tax rates and time zone, and payroll rules cover the UK, Japan, Pakistan and the United States. You can see it in action at opesflux.devsandvisuals.com.
